2 Day Business Classification Course - Toronto, ON

Why Should I Attend:

Function based classification systems enable records to be classified according to the context in which they are created and used. In contrast to a subject approach, records, therefore, are classified according to “why they exist” rather than “what they are about”.  The foundation of a Functional Based Classification Structure is the Business Classification Scheme that an organization employs.  This course is dedicated to providing you with the expertise and tools to develop your own organization's Business Classification Scheme.

Participants will be provided with full instructions on:

  • how to identify and review the appropriate documentary sources;
  • analyze and determine functions, associated activities, business transactions and resulting records;
  • identify business, community, and regulatory recordkeeping requirements;
  • and develop Business Classification Schemes.

Practice exercises and detailed workshops allow participants to apply instructions taught and discuss results in a group setting. Participants will possess the necessary skills and knowledge to develop Business Classification Schemes for their own organizations.
