Why should I attend?
Information management is at the root of everything the government does. Whether you are providing policy advice to a minister or working on the frontlines dealing with a citizen's personal information, you need sound information management practices to not only make your charge possible but effective.
Information is a valuable asset that the Government of Canada must manage as a public trust on behalf of Canadians; this you know. And now, governments across Canada are understanding the value and need of a consistent and constant vision, realizing information management as an actual discipline ... not a just a 'flash in the pan' concept.
"Members of the IM Community are specialists, dedicated to enhancing the decision-making value and use of information. As stewards of government information assets, we safeguard and ensure their quality, security and integrity in our democratic society. Our abiding commitment is to make information available, so as to illuminate the past, inform the present and shape the future of Canada."

Given this, as well as the fact that governments are taking a "whole of government" approach to initiatives such as: service standards, enterprise architectures, and program evaluation (all share an impact with IM), a "whole of government" approach to information management only makes sense.
This work is a necessary step to ensure that:
- In the future, IM services will be an integral part of program/service delivery and transformation
- The governments of Canada can leverage their investment in IM
- Interjurisdictional interoperability is possible
- And we continue to develop and maintain capacity within the IM community
