Why should I attend?
PIPA has been applicable in Alberta and British Columbia since January 2004.
PIPA's purpose is to govern the means by which organizations handle personal information in a manner that recognizes both the right of an individual to have his or her personal information protected and the need of organizations to collect, use or disclose personal information for purposes that are reasonable.
Sounds simple, right? Not exactly.
Organizations across British Columbia and Alberta have put in a lot of effort to ensure compliance with these laws as they rapidly approach their second anniversaries. However, these laws are still relatively new and a continued effort across both provinces is needed to maintain the momentum.
Customers, Employees and Privacy is a one-of-a-kind learning opportunity whether your organization is already an expert, in the midst of applying its strategy, or just getting started. It will offer the business communities across British Columbia and Alberta the chance to further enhance their training with an exciting mix of case studies, plenary lectures, and expert led sessions. Customers, Employees and Privacy, An Educational Forum for Businesses will also provide an opportunity for these communities to share their own experiences with PIPA over the last 2 years, to learn best practices and to participate in spirited debate and discussion with field leaders.
